The Planet Neptune
Neptune is the 8th planet from the Sun. It takes four hours, nine minutes and fifty nine seconds for the Sun's rays to reach Neptune. Neptune is 2,771,087,000 miles from the Sun. Neptune is named after the Roman God of the sea. Neptune appers to be blue because of the methane in it's atmosphere. The methane absorbs red light so only blue light reflects back.Neptune rotates prograde (counterclockwise when veiwed from above its north pole). Neptune makes a full rotation around the sun every 164.8 Earth years. Neptune was officialy discoverd in the year 1846 by John Couch Adams and Urbain Le Verrier. Galileo also saw Neptune in 1612 but miss took it for a Jovian moon ( a moon of Jupiter). Info from "The solar system,Uranus,Neptune,Pluto,And the Outer Solarsystem"
