Kuiper Belt John Meade, DON'T TOUCH ME!!!

 

 

 

  The Kuiper Belt is much like the Asteroid Belt, but the Kuiper Belt is much farther away from the sun. In the Kuiper Belt there are comets or frozen balls of ice; in the Asteroid Belt there are asteroids. The Kuiper Belt is located on the outer edge of our Solar System. The man who discovered The Kuiper Belt name is Gerard Kuiper, who suggested that some comet-like debris from the formation of the solar system should also be just beyond Neptune.

 

In 2006 Pluto and its moons were known as KBO's (Kuiper Belt Objets) because of how far away they are away from the sun and what their made of. There are probably a lot more of KOB's as big or bigger the Pluto that we haven't found yet. The first KBO was dicovered in 1992; It was called "1992 QB1".

 

There are differen't kinds of KBO's in our solar system some of them have differen't orbits like Pluto's. They  are called "plutinos" (mini-Pluto's). The Kuiper Belt is huge, it goes around our whole Solar System.The Kuiper Belt is made of big frozen rocks, matter, and ice; there for the Kuiper Belt is extremly cold. The Kuiper Belt has a very big orbit around the Solar System in which it carries large amounts of rocks and ice.

    Morgan Lamson:Nice Job! It looks really good! You did a great job with putting plenty of information on it. I think that maybe you should have added a little bit more color and maybe a video, to make people much more attracted to it! When people have movies more people are apt to look at it. With the information you have on here i think a 6th-8th grader could get started on a project about the Kuiper Belt. This page is also good because you didn't just copy and paste everything you wrote in your own information, and that makes it much better. It was also good because the project was handed in on time! I think that you put quite a bit of effort into this project but i think that if you had a little bit more info, color, and maybe a video you qould have many more people interested in it! Nice Job!!
